Buy Now Pay Later lets your customer take their purchase now and pay for it in instalments, while
you're paid the full amount as usual.

Ozow's BNPL is powered by Happy Pay. Your customer splits the purchase across two paycheques with no
deposit, interest-free if they pay on time. You receive the full transaction value; you're not
waiting on their instalments, and you're not chasing them for payment.

It's aimed at the point where a customer hesitates over a basket they can't afford in one go.
Merchants offering BNPL typically see it lift conversion and average order value, because the
barrier moves from "can I afford this today" to "can I afford half of it".

## How your customer pays

1. Your customer chooses Buy Now Pay Later at checkout.
2. Happy Pay checks whether they qualify, there and then.
3. If approved, they confirm the instalment plan.
4. The payment is confirmed and your customer returns to your site.
5. Happy Pay collects the instalments from them directly over the following weeks.

## Enabling BNPL

Speak to your account manager to have BNPL enabled on your account.

Once enabled, it appears on the Ozow payment page automatically. No separate integration is needed;
it works through the Ozow integration you already have.

Optionally, Happy Pay offers a product-page widget and a pull-out button so customers can see the
instalment option before they reach checkout. Those are separate additions and are worth asking
about, since BNPL works best when customers know it's available while they're still deciding.

## Things to know

**You're paid the full transaction value.** Not the first instalment, not a portion. What you
receive is the full amount, settled the way your other Ozow payments are. See
[Settlements](https://hub.ozow.com/payment-products/settlements-and-float/settlements.md).

**You don't carry the collection risk.** Happy Pay approves the customer, manages the repayment plan
and collects the instalments. If a customer stops paying, that's between them and Happy Pay; it
doesn't come back to you.

**Not every customer will be approved.** Approval happens live at checkout and it's Happy Pay's
decision, not yours. Always keep other payment methods available so a declined customer can still
complete the purchase.

**Instalment queries go to Happy Pay, not you.** Once a customer is on a plan, their repayments,
dates and any arrangements are Happy Pay's relationship. Worth briefing your support team before you
switch this on, because customers will contact you first.

**Happy Pay is the credit provider, not you.** You're accepting a payment like any other; you're not
lending to your customer.

## Integrating BNPL

BNPL works with every Ozow integration method, and nothing BNPL-specific is required; once it's
enabled on your account, it appears on the Ozow payment page automatically.

option in your store's checkout.

**Standalone BNPL button.** To send customers straight to Buy Now Pay Later and skip the payment
method selection screen, pass BNPL's `institutionId`. See [Standalone payment
buttons](https://hub.ozow.com/integration-methods/apis/payin.md#standalone-payment-buttons).
